Burke and Stowe

When we went back to Burke, we were going to see them fly in the new lift towers but the helicopter did not show up so we didn't get to see anything happen. We then went to burke later that week, when we went their we actually had to work. We had to Clear up the Drainage Ditches on the access road. We then went to the summit to check out the newly completed terminal. We also got to check out the newly completed Ski patrol hut at the top, after that we mulched the area under the newly completed lift before they were going to blow snow. After doing work we went to the maintenance building and checked out their new groomers that they had purchased. And ten we got to check out the park features that they have which was sick.

Burke and Chili Cook Off

When we went to Burke we were told that we were going to have to put the seat pads on the old quad that goes to the summit. Usually they only have about 3 people doing this and it would have taken them about 1-2 days to put all of them on, but with our class of 18 kids we were able to put all of the pads on in just over an hour and a half, all because we had a system on how to put them on. Later that week we had the 2nd anual Chili cook off, which went well. the small little games and such made a lot of money and so did the people that bought chili. We also had a skate jam that day as well which was a little disappointing because their were only 5 competitors in the jam but it brought a large crowd.

Bretton Woods

On our trip to Bretton Woods we got to meet the Ski Services Manager, he told us a lot about how he got into the industry and the history of Bretton woods. He also gave us a tour of the base lodge, which is a great lodge and the had just put in a new indoor rock wall for the guests. We then took a walk to the maintenace building to get a better understanding about their snowmaking and if they were going to make snow that night. After that we walked over to one of the lifts where we got to meet the Mountain Ops Manager, who told us about how she got into the industry and how long she's been working their, she also told us a little bit about the lifts that they have. We then went back into the lodge to learn more about Customer Services and how every part of a ski area is a part of Customer Service. We then took a shuttle over to their Hotel which was incredible, I've never seen anything like it before and how old it was was amazing. It was pretty cool to learn that Thomas Edison was the person to do all the electricity in the hotel. As we were leaving we looked up the mountain to see that they were making snow, which was a great thing to see.
